Why choose sweet potatoes over regular potatoes!

Many of my Diabetic patients ask me if they can eat potatoes and if one type is better than another.

If you are crazy for potatoes -- I recommend sweet potatoes over white potatoes bc they are more nutritious. 😉

Sweet potatoes are better than white potatoes bc they have:
- more fiber in the skin & flesh
- a lower glycemic index thus causes less fluctuations in blood sugars which can make you feel hungry sooner
- more vitamin A (find out why vitamin A is important
here)
- less calories
- more minerals like calcium & manganese
